The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance by Brian Leiser followed by the prayer by Vicki Kahn. Travis Corwin received a special plaque and award from Aleksandra in recognition of his excellent service as sargeant. Travis quizzed us about National Punctuation Day, and Joy Pak won the pot and table stakes, contributing all back for our next meeting, but she did not pull the Jack of Hearts. Karen Acker was called out for her great embroidered jeans, and Paul Cassella wore an outstanding Rotary International shirt. We had a visiting Rotarian, Nehat Islami, from Rotary Kosovo. Nehat is here in Southampton visiting family and spoke about his lectures in economic development at the University of Graz, Austria, and effusively thanked the US for its support of refugees from his country after the war. Paul then opened up a discussion on the status of the Kick Off Party at Lake Agawam on October 2nd. Sign Up sheets were distributed, and Travis reminded us that we need better signage at the bar and a verbal call out when the free drinks close down! The Southamptonfest committee will follow up with an updated list of items/assistance needed for our next meeting.
